Dahi Katla Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500 grams Katla fish (cut into pieces)
- 1 cup plain yogurt (dahi)
- 1 large onion (finely chopped)
- 2-3 green chilies (slit)
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons mustard oil
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)
Instructions:
- Marinate the Fish:
- Wash the Katla fish pieces thoroughly.
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt.
- Add the fish pieces to the marinade and coat them well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Sauté the Onions:
- Heat mustard oil in a pan.
- Add the finely chopped onions and green chilies.
- Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the Marinated Fish:
- Add the marinated fish pieces to the pan.
- Cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes, turning the fish gently to ensure even cooking.
- Simmer with Yogurt:
- Reduce the heat to low.
- Add the remaining marinade from the bowl to the pan.
- Mix well and let it simmer for another 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Adjust Seasoning:
- Taste and adjust salt and spices as needed.
- If the gravy is too thick, add a little water.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Once the fish is cooked and the gravy thickens, turn off the heat.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or paratha.
